When they started, the experimental rock band called Battles was a quartet. They made wildly colorful music that went through a dizzying array of rhythms – and it seemed like the kind of thing you needed at least four people to play. But Battles has gotten leaner over the years, and is now a duo. And yet, they are still eminently capable of causing audio whiplash with their sudden changes of mood. You may wanna dance to their music – the question is: can you? The band Battles plays Tuesday night, Dec. 10, at the Music Hall of Williamsburg.
